Mission Statement
To provide safe, potable water for use by the City’s residential and commercial customers and to do so in a manner that meets or exceeds requirements of all State and Federal regulatory agencies.

Description
This Department is responsible for the safe delivery of potable water that is pumped from three groundwater wells and distributed through water mains, meters and customer services. This Department installs water taps, and repairs services and water mains, and sets fire hydrants, and pumps, and stores water per customer needs and regulatory requirements.

This Department is staffed by Employees of the Water/Wastewater Dept. which work dual with Water and Wastewater Facilities.

Goals

1. To systematically repair and/or replace older Water Mains, Valves and Fire Hydrants that have deteriorated through years of use.

2. Repair all leaks in a timely basis, with minimum disruption of service.

3. Meet Customer Service needs in a timely manner that leaves the customer satisfied and meets all regulatory requirements.

4. Continue to implement cross-connection control.

5. Install isolation valves when repairing older Water Mains.

6. To continue to expand and upgrade the distribution system to meet customer needs, system pressures and State and Federal regulations.

Objectives

1. Conduct bi-monthly Safety meetings.

2. Replace Water Meters, Mains and Fire Hydrants as needed.

3. Install valves as possible in older sections of distribution system.

4. To make necessary repairs or expansions with a minimum disruption of service.

5. Continue Fire Hydrant maintenance program followed by an Annual Report.

6. Operate Treatment Facilities in a safe, efficient manner meeting all regulatory requirements such as licensing operators, good record keeping and maintenance of equipment.
