Silsbee EDC - Philosophy
The philosophy of SEDC involves considering, seeking, and selecting projects that will improve the value and quality of Silsbee's economy. Valuable projects increase or retain the sales tax base, wages, population, businesses, industries and tourism. Quality refers to the implementation of policies that control the specific nature of projects to ensure that they blend well with the values, aesthetics, and image that Silsbee strives to create. City ordinances, SEDC resolutions, and development guidelines are the criteria that must be considered when determining whether a project meets the quality standards and Silsbee's economic goals.
Sales tax revenue must be used for business growth, community growth, and job creation as related to various categories of projects. Voters, SEDC Board members, and the State legislature have authorized
the following types of projects in Silsbee:
Projects authorized by the Industrial Development Act of 1979

Related facilities - Any facilities related to any of the foregoing, whether existing or planned.
