Silsbee EDC - Past Projects
Most of the development projects from 1995-1999 were infrastructure projects such as the replacement of water lines around the city and the construction of a new sewage treatment plant in 1998. Other projects included searching for new businesses to bring jobs to Silsbee, underwriting community festivals, and acquiring economic development tools for administrative and marketing purposes.
In 2003-2004, the SEDC used revenues to:
Provide infrastructure for the Paul Hicks Subdivision
Update a promotional video for Silsbee through Channel 6 Productions.
Provide infrastructure for the Thompson Lake RV & Mobile Home Park and the new Oakdale subdivision.
Expand water/sewer capacity along Highways 96 to accommodate Wal-Mart and prepare for other commercial growth
Provide incentive to new warehouse distribution facility
Provide incentive to Modern Group/Dragon Products for steel manufacturing facility
Underwrite drainage improvements at Silsbee Farm and Ranch's new retail facility
Provide $50,000 in matching funds for a grant to expand Waldo Mathew Park
Donate land and $40,000 seed money for the development of Silsbee Veteran Park
